Ingredients for Shredded Hawthorn
1500g Hawthorn
500g White Granulated Sugar
1 Lemon
Appropriate amount of water
Steps to Make Shredded Hawthorn
Step 1: Soak the hawthorn in salt water for 10 minutes, then wash and drain.
Step 2: Remove the cores. Here’s a little trick. Press both ends of the hawthorn with a steel pipe similar to the one in the picture, and you can easily remove the hawthorn seeds.
Step 3: This is what it looks like after removing the cores.
Step 4: Cut it open and it’s very clean inside.
Step 5: After removing the cores of all the hawthorn, cut them into small pieces.
Step 6: Add enough water to cover the hawthorn pieces. Bring to a boil over high heat, then turn to low heat and cook for another 3 minutes.
Step 7: Add an appropriate amount of the water used to cook the hawthorn to a blender, blend the hawthorn pieces into a puree, and pour it into a pot.
Step 8: Squeeze in lemon juice and add white sugar, then stir well.
Step 9: Take one-fourth of the hawthorn puree and put it into another pot. Add the water used to cook the hawthorn and stir-fry until it reaches the desired consistency.
Step 10: Hawthorn Series 1 – Hawthorn Fruit Tea is ready. It tastes better after being refrigerated in the refrigerator.
Step 11: Continue to stir-fry the remaining hawthorn puree in the original pot until it dries. Turn off the heat when the hawthorn puree clings to the wall of the pot and a clear mark can be made with a wooden spatula.
Step 12: Grease the inner wall of a box to prevent sticking.
Step 13: Pour in some of the hawthorn puree, level the surface with a spatula, and refrigerate it overnight in the refrigerator.
Step 14: Take some more hawthorn puree and put it into a gold plate, then level the surface with a spatula.
Step 15: Bake in an oven at 150 degrees for about 50 minutes. The baking time needs to be determined according to the temperature of your own oven and the thickness of the hawthorn puree. Don’t overbake it.
Step 16: These are the baked large hawthorn slices.
Step 17: Start to cut them.
Step 18: Toss the cut hawthorn strips with white granulated sugar. The delicious Hawthorn Series 2 – Hawthorn Strips are ready to enjoy.
Step 19: Hawthorn Snack Series 3 – Fruit Leather has the same steps as the hawthorn strips. Just extend the baking time of the large hawthorn slices in the last step so that the fruit leather will have a chewy texture. Cut the divided hawthorn slices into appropriate sizes and roll them up with plastic wrap.
Step 20: For the Hawthorn Snack Series 4 – Hawthorn Cake that has been refrigerated overnight in the refrigerator, cut out cute shapes with a mold and enjoy.
Step 21: Cut it into square hawthorn pieces again.
Step 22: Wrap some hawthorn pieces with plastic wrap for easy carrying when going out.
Step 23: Finally, here’s a family photo of my 2016 Hawthorn Snack Series.
