Ingredients and Cooking Method of Open – mouth Jujube (a Guangdong Snack)

Ingredients of Open – mouth Jujube:
1000 grams of flour


3 eggs


15 grams of baking powder


An appropriate amount of baking soda


200 grams of white sugar


250 grams of white sesame seeds


100 grams of cooking oil



Steps to Make Open – mouth Jujube:


Step 1: Prepare 1000 grams of flour.


Step 2: Prepare ingredients: baking powder, eggs, baking soda, white sesame seeds, white sugar.


Step 3: Pour the flour into a plate.


Step 4: Break 3 eggs.


Step 5: Add white sugar, baking powder, and baking soda and mix well.


Step 6: Add some water and knead the dough. The dough should be a bit thinner than usual.


Step 7: Put white sesame seeds in a small plate.


Step 8: Divide the dough into small balls and roll them in the white sesame seeds.


Step 9: Place the balls on a large plate.


Step 10: Heat oil in a pan to 50% heat. Put the balls into the pan and fry them over low heat. When the balls float and turn golden brown, they are done. The picture above was taken when they were half – fried, so there are many fallen white sesame seeds.


Step 11: This is what the fried open – mouth jujubes look like. They are one of the breakfast options for Cantonese people, fragrant, crispy, and delicious.
